Question C63 Standard Exhaust Mod

Hi All,

I know I know, another exhaust thread, trust me ive read 100's of pages, my heads spinning! in a nutshell, so not to ramble on and on, Ive bought a C63S 2017 model with a standard Exhaust! (it has a stage1 map)hardly any pops, my previous M4 made more pops when I forced the valves open by disconnecting them. Ive already ordered the valve simulator, UK version as all the links ive found so far have been from US. Hopefully this will make a difference and someone done a great write up on how to do it without throwing an error.

however, Im starting this thread to try and figure out how I could delete the secondary cat, and is that all I need to do? and if so, where do i buy the straight pipes? I keep hearing in other threads, "oh just buy Mikes pipes" but something tells me thats not a UK thing as i cant find anything to buy called mikes pipes or if i do then its for the W204 and Not W205.

Do I also need to remove resonators? cant find much info on this.

Any pictures of sections that require cutting out etc would be amazing from someone who has already done it or parts sold to replace them.

thanks in advance.

Lots of garages in the UK would gut the secondary cats for you mate.

I've got a 2017 C63s Cabriolet and was about to have it done when the pandemic kicked in.

You don't even need to travel beyond your local area, just find a friendly workshop.

BTW, you need the performance exhaust to have any flaps to open with your valve simulator. As you've got the standard exhaust there will be no flaps to open!

I believe Mike’s exhaust is Redstar downpipes. Take α look at the W212 AMG E63 thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...downpipes.html

i know, spent an hour under the car looking for it, was scratching my head then your message popped up! lol that was a waste of £60 never mind. having the standard exhaust though, would it really make any difference if i knock the 2nd cat out? considering i cant control the valves anyway?

Yeah still worth it if you want that throaty V8 burble all of the time and no drone on the motorway either.

It’s relatively cheap too at around £250. They literally open them up, cut the mesh filter out and the weld it closed again so very unlikely to be spotted on an MOT.
