Thumbs up Traction Control behavior

Hey everyone I’m new to MB but have modded many BMW’s and Audi’s etc. Does MB also have multiple traction control modes? When I disable on the center console it feels like it is still interfering. I did search but cannot seem to find a definitive answer.

The FL C63s does. It has a 9 stage adjustable TC system similar to that found in the AMG GTR. It’s adjustable using the drive unit rotary dial once ESP is disabled.

Just to clarify the above. Both the PFL and FL have a 3-stage ESP. If you press the ESP button once, it goes into Sport mode where it allows some drift angles and wheel slip, but still give you a safety net. If you press and hold the ESP button for about 3 seconds it turns off completely, but that's where the FL's 9-stage TC comes in. In the PFL, both ESP and TC turn off at that point, but in the FL TC stays on at level 5, and then you can adjust it in 9 stages from completely off to completely on. In addition with AMGs the moment you step on the brakes, ESP reactivates temporarily to help stabilize the car. That behavior can't be turned off and is basically a last resort thing if you loose control of the car, you can step on the brakes and hopefully ESP keeps you from having a bad day.

So I finally got around to trying this. I went into Vehicle Settings | ESP. It was on so I pushed the controller and it switched to Sport. If I hold the controller down for 3+ seconds nothing happens. Traction Control is still clearly interfering. Am I missing something obvious here?

This is on a 2015 PFL for reference.

Wrong place. That's your individual mode configuration, which only gives you the option between Sport or On. There's a physical button to the control the ESP.

Hmm, that's what I started with originally. Definitely held that for 3+ seconds and it shows the icon on the dash as being off but it's still cutting power when there's wheelspin or gets a little sideways.

Then something is not working properly or you didn't press it long enough. I think there should be a warning coming up, too, and yes it should say ESP OFF in the instrument cluster. Below picture is from my car with the digital instrument cluster, so yours will be a little different but it should clearly say ESP OFF. I had my car 90 degrees sideways in Race mode and ESP Sport and was doing 360s at the AMG Driving Academy with everything off, so if yours is cutting in when you are only going a little sideways then something isn't right.

One more possibility that just came to mind. IIRC, in the PFL the safety systems (collision avoidance) stay on even if ESP is off and they have to be manually turned off in the vehicle assistance settings (they will turn on again automatically, next time you start the car), otherwise they might still interfere if they think you are in trouble. In the FL, the safety systems turn off automatically if ESP is off, which is what that other symbol at the bottom of my instrument cluster indicates.
