I got a pretty good deal on 2 Michelin ps4s in 305/30/20. They were taken off a brand new car(at the time) and had been stored so treadwear wise they are practically brand new. However, the DOT for the tires are 5118 and 1319. Are they too old to use? I would have them on my car for probably a year. Thanks
Okay thank you! I saw people talk about how their tires are only 4 years old yet they throw them out because they are too old so I was curious as Michelin themselves claim 6 years and up to 10.

****Those tires will be more than fine, unless there is obvious damage to them. Other than of course wear from driving or running over a few people, farm animals, curbs, etc.. - one of the big things that prematurely damage and wear tires is exposure to the sun and it's UV rays. If the tires were properly stored they should be good to go.
Rubber does break down of course, but tires generally are designed with a significant safety factor to deal with thermal cycling, UV exposure, ozone exposure, etc.. For a really high performance application, yes they need to be checked more often, especially if you do sustained high speeds on a track, etc.. but otherwise for regular driving just use them and enjoy.
