W205 C63 S Tires & wet conditions

Hey guys. I bought a w205 C63 S AMG edition 1 today, I had a w204 C63 and I have to say it is quite different in terms of traction. Today was my first day with the car so Ofcourse I was pushing it. I’m running the stock Michelin PSS, I can’t seem to hook up very well it does keep in a straight line but spins I would say almost to 3rd.

while I don’t mind the spinning, I fear what it’s like in wet conditions. The tires are probably around 40% through their life, is the amount of spinning im experiencing in dry conditions when pushing it normal? Leading me to my next question, if I’m in comfort and driving liking a normal human being, will the car/tires handle the wet conditions fine? I just want to be sure as I will be daily driving the vehicle. Any input would help, thank you.

Congrats on the new car. Traction is the number 1 challenge of the 205. Turbo charged and peak torque at very low rpm will do that. Your 204 made less torque and peak torque came in at 5000 rpm. The 205 makes peak torque at 2000 rpm, so if you just mash the throttle you gonna overpower the tires. Having said that, what's the ambient temperature in your neck of the woods currently? The one thing summer performance tires don't like is the cold. They need heat to perform optimally. The PSS specifically didn't do well for me at cooler temps. The PS4S handles colder temps better and also has better wet traction, but you do need to get the rear tires into the 100F for max traction. Since you just bought the car, it will also be good to know how old the tires are. The last 4 digits of the DOT will tell you the week and year they were produced. A low mileage car for example may have old tires. In general, though, I DD mine, but as said I am on PS4S. They make a big difference. I don't really drive much in the wet, though, courtesy of an average of 300 dry days around here. My car hasn't seen rain pretty much since I picked it up in Germany back in 2019. During the winter when temps drop into the 40s and 50s around here, though, the PSS was struggling big time. The PS4S does much better at those temps, but ultimately the car comes alive in the summer.

thank you for the reply. In my area it is around the 45-50s this week sadly it’s very inconsistent. But it should be warming up soon I guess I’ll hold off and see how these tires do in the warmer weather. Thank you for all the info !!

My new 2019 C63s coupe came with Michelin PSS but after just 1,100 miles I switched to the PS4S.
At times, I felt I could lose control of the car in both dry conditions and wet conditions with the PSS. A part of it may have been my apprehension during the 1, 000 mile break in period.
Based on the many great reviews I purchased the PS4S. I find the handling, traction and safety in all conditions to be much better and feel that I'm in control of the car.
I live in the NYC area and as a DD and my only car I put on snow tires from approx. mid-Dec to end of March/early April. They are Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3.
I feel you will be satisfied changing to the PS4S esp. If it's your DD and with wet road conditions.

As others have said, swapping to PS4s will help tremendously. I made the switch and traction is significantly better then the PSS. Grips better in the wet with better tolerance to the cold as well.
