VRP intake spacer review
When it came to the install it was quite straightforward and required no instructions if you are even a little handy. Unfortunately though, the overall design of the product seems poorly thought out. The metal brackets hook onto each other at the corners, and do not make a tight seal at all. There will definitely be air leakage...luckily this is from underneath the filter element before the air enters the engine. There is also no guidance on whether the horizontal or vertical pieces should have their hooks oriented upwards, although I was able to figure it out by looking at the pictures on their website.
Included in the package are cylindrical plastic covers that go between the top and bottom portions of the stock intake to protect the threads of the screws. There is absolutely no way to use these plastic guards without removing the entire intake system from the engine (like needs to be done to change spark plugs), and quite honestly they seem mostly unnecessary anyway. The spacers are overall an easy install using the same procedure as an engine air filter swap and does not require removal on the entire intake system-plastic bits have been sent to the landfill.
In my opinion the product seems cheaply manufactured and does not warrent the full asking price or even the sale price which I paid. Anyway just my opinion, felt I should give others the chance to make a more informed decision with their dollars.
UPD spacer that I have seems to be very well made (one piece design) with no sharp edge anywhere. Happy with the fitment too.
I used to use the spacer with Weistec air filter but IMO bmc air filter seems to work better overall since it is thinner than Weistec so it does not cover 2 round holes on stock bottom air box.
I think covering those 2 round holes has some impact on lower end throttle response.
