Oil Level

Just had a service done on the car. Oil (checked using dipstick at operating temperature) is slightly higher than the full mark. Will this cause any problems?

*****No. The person who serviced the car might have put in 10 quarts exactly from two 5 quart jugs. The capacity is I believe 9.5 quarts with a filter change. Also, they may have put in only 9.5 quarts but some of the old oil may have been left in the motor unless they let it drain for some time. Plenty of oil sticks to the internals of the motor and take time to drain. An extra 1/2 quart or so will not harm anything, but if it bothers you, drain a bit out. I would be more concerned if it was low versus a little bit high as ALL internal combustion engines use a bit of oil, especially as they rack up more mileage and the rings and oil control begin to wear and allow a bit of blow by past the rings that end up in the combustion chamber and blown out of the exhaust.
