Two question about Park Assist/Parktronic
Car parallel parks as expected but sometimes makes a horrible grinding braking sound is this normal? Almost sounds like the emergency brake is being engaged while car is rolling or something.
Also will the 2021 perpendicular parking? The onboard manual seems to show it in one of the images but I haven't been able to get the car to find available spaces. Am I missing something or is the image in the manual generic?

Yes, the grinding noise is normal. It's when it suddenly sees something intruding in the parking spot that it didn't detect before and emergency braking engages. Happens when there's vegetation or just something it didn't see at first.
Yes, the 2019+ can park perpendicular. Nothing you need to do. It should detect the spots. They have to be between two adjacent cars. Once you select a perpendicular spot it'll ask if you wanna park forward or in reverse.
Other than playing with it at first and using it a couple of times, I've pretty much not touched it since. Kind of a gimmick mostly. I park faster and better myself. I really mainly got the parking package for the 360 camera.
