First time posting, apologies if its posted somewhere else but i can't find anything.
Maps on Mercs dont take into account any traffic issues, and sometimes take me on far inferior routes.
How do i get the google maps on my phone to show up on the dash screen? is it even possible? Or perhaps there is a way to get Merc navigator to update from google in current time?
What model year are we talking about? The 2019+ have an updated system with smartphone interface for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so that's how you get Google Maps on the screen of the car. But as far as traffic issues is concerned, you need live traffic data and enable dynamic routing in the settings, so it routes around known traffic issues. Again, the 2019+ system is much better with routing and live traffic via data connection. I see you are in the UK, so not sure how the pre-facelift (<=2018) gets live traffic over there. Here in the USA it was via satellite radio (SiriusXM).
If yours is a 2018 or older, then you gonna have to look into aftermarket replacements for COMAND to get CarPlay or Android Auto support. MB did offer the smartphone interface for MY2018, but it only worked if you didn't option the multimedia package, so it was either the smartphone interface or the multimedia package. This is no longer the case with the 2019+ models. The smartphone interface is an extra cost option in most markets, though. Here in the USA it was standard.
BTW, the 2019+ models also have online map update capability, so the maps stay up to date.

Also check all your route settings and make sure they are correct. There are several options to avoid certain roads and one of the common settings that people get wrong is the route type. You can choose between fastest route, shortest route and some models even have an eco route option. The latter two will pretty much not reroute you around congestion, unless it's a road closure, because the shortest route is still the shortest route even if there's traffic. Rerouting will actually make it longer. You want to set it to fastest route, so that it reroutes you whenever it finds a faster route.
