Questions about AMG Performance screen
Hello AMG folks,
How accurate is the hp/torque readouts from the performance readout? How is it calculating these numbers?
Will this accuracy remain even with tuned vehicles?
Any insight would be helpful; thanks!

It's a gimmick. The hp/tq figures are calculated based on a mathematical model of the engine. Real hp/tq can only be measured on a dyno where the energy is wasted into the environment. Can't propel the car forward and measure real hp/tq at the same time, because the act of measuring it would consume all the power and torque. Whether it remains "accurate" when tuned depends on if the tune adjusts the model for the calculation.

It is indeed a gimmick. My car has a Brabus 600 pack from new, sanctioned and delivered by MB, but the power still maxes on the screen at 500, torque similar. I used it once, then switched back to the map which at least tells you where you are.

Gimmick aside I guess another use it is to determine if your car is properly running or not (not in soft limp mode) or losing boost (due to maybe a loose air take) etc. Other like others mentioned, need to put it on a dyno.
