Super quick exhaust review...

I haven't done the side-by-side with my old 2018 C63 yet. Of course I took delivery just this morning and have done a quick 30 miles today already. I did drive a 2019 FL two weeks ago tomorrow. So it's fresh in my mind. At first blush I really don't here any crackles or pops to speak of. I did go to 5K rpm in race. What I do notice is a deeper/richer more resonant V8 sound over the FL which I really like and might actually prefer. I don't think this car will crackle and pop like the PFL but that's not a bad thing. The PFL sound was basically tuned in by dumping a bit of extra fuel on the exhaust stroke to get that sound. Some would say it sounded to contrived to a point. Right now I think I prefer it over the PFL just like @superswiss says but this is for sure louder than the FL - no placebo here. I'll know more in the coming days and especially once I get the 2018 next to it. Wish I could go the full tilt right now to 7K rpm but I'll wait. I think it will crackle and pop but not like the PFL but then again it has that deeper more resonant sound. Will post more as soon as I can.

Thanks for taking the time for a quick but insightful review. I know I wasn’t just tripping because I owned a FL for nearly 2 years and this one is definitely louder. It has a very deep growling rumble to it that my ‘21 just didn’t have. Try in sport+, for some reason I got more pops and bangs in sport+ than race.

When I pulled up to the PPF shop today, they heard my car pull up from inside and thought it was a Viper or Lambo, they we’re really surprised to see it was just a C63S lol.

Appreciate the initial quick review of the sound!

I still think the volume is also just subjective or perhaps just a matter of time with the earlier FLs. My '19 is quite loud now. My wife kinda holds her ears when I cold start it in the garage with her standing next to it. It's super loud in a confined space. Friends can her me from inside their house when I pull up and frequently comment that they know when I have arrived...haha. From the beginning I preferred the tone of the FL. It's a much nicer and cleaner V8 sound, IMO. Personally, I prefer the Italian V8 screamers that rev up to 8000+ rpm. The PFL sound always reminded me too much of American pickup trucks. The FL sound is somewhere in between. It sounds more race car than V8 pickup truck. The pops & bangs were never my thing. Find them tacky and I always think the engine has misfire issues. They are more purposeful in the FL rather than forced fakery. Funny thing when I bomb down a canyon road and I get a really loud one on a high rev overrun into a corner I sometimes think I just popped a tire or something. It's actually kinda unpleasant, but to each their own.
