Tailgate close button does not light up

Tailgate close button does not light up
Hello everyone,
lately i noticed my tailgate close button does not illuminate on my 2017 c63s wagon. I thought it is the button module itself that is broken. So i ordered a new genuine part and replaced it (A212821055164). Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue and the switch still does not illuminate. The button itself works, also the lock function. Power does go to all the other interior lights, licence plate lights, tail lights without any issues. I checked all four fuse boxes for a blown fuse with a voltmeter, but did not find anything wrong. My thoughts are that the issue is in the wiring itself. Sadly im slowly running out of ideas of what to look for myself before finding some specialist to take a look at it. Does anyone have any tips?
