Downpipe installation difficulty level?

Hello everyone, I plan on installing Downpipes this weekend and was curious if you guys have any tips to make the job easier. I’ve swapped out Downpipes multiple times on the c43 so I have some confidence in tackling this job. I understand the OEM ones need to be cut if I’m not removing the trans, but I have read that the steering column has to be removed as-well. Is this the case? Videos I’ve seen online just shows them removing brackets, clamps, and bolts.

Any tips or recommendations for any speciality tools would be highly appreciated. Also an estimate of how long it would take. I predict 4 hours and that’s including the 1 hour of struggling

Just watched the c43 installation video, and you should be fine doing the downpipe install on the 63. Steering column removal isn't necessary, but I did it, and was easier to pull the downpipe out. CUT THE PIPE before you loosen the downpipe from all the clamps and bolts holding it. I had the downpipe fully loose when I started cutting it, and it made it so much harder than it needed to be since the downpipe kept moving lol. Lastly, in the video I linked below, the bolts behind the shield at 8:00 were terrible to reinstall so I recommend having a skinny socket so you have as much space as possible. My total install time took 5 hours, and getting those bolts in took an hour and thirty because I kept dropping it or it wouldn't line up.

thanks I’ll make sure to cut them before I remove the clamps lol.. As for the bolts behind the shield it seems like a ratcheting wrench would fit better no? I have big hands so I know I’m going to struggle already but I will make sure to have some skinny sockets on standby. 5 hours isn’t bad at all hoping I can get it done in that amount of time or less.

Yea if I had a ratcheting wrench it would have gone a lot smoother but I made do with what I had lol. If I had to do it again I could probably do it in 3 hours but I took my time the first time around to learn and just make sure I don't forget anything haha.

you wouldn’t happen to remember what size bolts they were per chance? The ones behind the shield.
