Transmission service, shop screwed up! Need advice
Went to my indy shop today to get my belts, tensioners , pulleys done, along with a transmission service. Long story , drove about 30 miles and notice that trans temps higher than normal was driving a little aggressive. Didn't think anything of it and took it easy , temps came back down. Couple mins later I start to hear a thumping noise from under the car, pulled over and looked there is trans oil all under the belly pans. When I heard the noise I was driving around 75mph 5th gear immediately slowed down, and drove about 1 miles under 1500rpms . Called the shop owner and said to have it towed to his shop they well take care the tow and fix it . Told me he can come tonight and have the car good to go in the morning.
My concern is depending on how much oil leaked out and if the transmission suffered any significant wear , I will be looking for metal shavings when they open it up. I know they are going to want to just refill the trans and button up or realign the gasket .
How should I approach this , under pans are full of oil. Just worried my trans might be toast now ?
