wind deflector making horrible fast clicking sound when going down or up
when i raise or lower the rear wind deflector, and it reaches the top most or bottom most point, it makes a very fast clicking sound for 2-3 seconds. doesnt sound normal. my first thought was: should the deflector be completely hidden behind the seats? (currently it is not, i can see an inch or 2 of it) but if it IS supposed to be hidden, then maybe something is stuck at the bottom causing the motor to click because its pushing down and stuck. but then i noticed the same sounds when the deflector is being raised.
thoughts? it only happens at the top most and bottom most points, and for 2-3 seconds. ill try to get a recording next time

Supposedly this is somewhat common and is caused by cracked gears. Unless you’re a DYI kinda guy and can create proper dimensions then 3D print some gears, take apart the unit and replace them, you’re going to have to replace the entire assembly. Now that the model has been refreshed, getting the assembly might be more expensive or hard to find. I’m fairly certain the assembly is the same for all the W205 C class cabriolets. You could check junk yards for cars that have been written off but the assembly is still good, or eBay and sites like that. Eventually it’s going to become inoperable, It’s not like you’re going to make things worse by continuing to use it since the whole thing has to be replaced.
As a disclaimer, I’m no mechanic, and without any video and sound of what it’s doing, I’m just giving the most logical information I have. Hope this helps!

this is helpful, it definitely sounds like something is wrong, possibly broken.....and the inoperable part is the concerning part because you dont want it in-opp while its up, or else the top wont close (i believe).
im not that handy to be able to 3D print gears, but ill see what i can do
