Extended warranty worth it for 2018 C63S?

Recently picked up a 2018 C63S, has 70k km mileage on it. Got the dealer extended warranty for 7.2k CAD. 4 yrs, or 80,000 km, covers everything (non-cosmetic).

I'm the 3rd owner. The service records are blank for the first couple of years w/ the first owner, then looks well taken care of for the last couple of years. I've had it for slightly over a month now and haven't noticed anything. Had two inspections that came out clean. The brakes are a bit squeaky but that wouldn't be covered.

Should I cancel the extended warranty? I have to pay a $200 deductible if I want to use it for anything. I was worried something would pop up with new-used car jitters but my fears are gone now. I could get issues that pop up fixed at my local Merc mechanic and people say the W205 engine is solid. I'd rather put that money into a savings account.

Is the extended warranty you currently have the mercedes cpo warranty? If so, that is limited in what is covered. Ask for the list. You may consider canceling if you can get your money back and get a warranty that covers more items such as Fidelity, for more money. There is a website that lists the average annual repair costs for a particular car. I was surprised when I looked up my car 2023 e 450, that averages 1000 a year. That is why warranty companies nake money. Warranty gives you comfort if high price repair is needed, which seems pretty easy in these cars despite the data. So personal preference if want to buy expensive warranty.

From web search:

The average maintenance and repair costs for a 2023 Mercedes-Benz E450 over 10 years is estimated to be around $11,822, according to CarEdge. This includes scheduled maintenance, normal wear and tear items, and expected repairs, but excludes any free warranty work. The cost can vary based on factors like your location, driving habits, and how well you maintain the vehicle.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • First 5 years: You can expect to spend around $3,823 on maintenance and repairs.
  • 10 years: The average total cost over 10 years is about $11,822.
  • Major repairs: CarEdge considers any repair costing over $500 a major repair, including parts and labor.
  • Industry comparison: This is more than the industry average for luxury sedans, but less than the average for all luxury sedans.
  • Cost variations: CarEdge notes that the region you live in and how you care for and drive your car can significantly impact these costs.
  • Example repair costs: RepairPal provides estimates for specific repairs like a brake bleed ($159 - $233), a starter replacement ($1,124 - $1,542), or a fuel injector replacement ($1,069 - $1,333).

Not the CPO warranty, it's the Ultimate Plan here which is pretty comprehensive: https://www.coverageone.ca/home#services

A quick search says repair and maintenance averages $1k a year:

The average repair and maintenance cost for a 2018 Mercedes-Benz C63S can vary, but estimates range from $1,077 to $1,117 annually, according to RepairPal and RepairPal. This includes routine maintenance like oil changes, brake replacements, and other common repairs. The total cost can fluctuate based on factors like mileage, location, and specific repairs needed
Note its items that's not covered under warranty. Another option I'm considering is downgrading the plan to a cheaper one, the level below this doesn't cover electronics.

I've asked myself this same question when I picked up my 2019 c63s this February. Blank carfax and 50k miles on it but the suspension was shot from an inspection I did 15 days after getting the car. Really any warranty or aftermarket warranty does not cover pre-existing problems (if you're the 3rd owner, if there's a problem and it's found warranty wont cover it.). I stay away from aftermarket warranties for the most part and bite the bullet whenever I need to make a repair.

Read your contract and see what is and not covered. My maxcare under fidelity has paid itself off in 2 years. Over 5k in repairs covered.

This is why the first two Ps in PPI stands for "Pre-Purchase", no point in getting an inspection done after purchasing the vehicle unless you're fully prepared to cover the costs of whatever is found. Even if that is the case, dealers will work with buyers if repairs are found on a PPI to make a sale.

Not true, repairs just need to make sense while under the coverage timeline. It does not matter what owner you are or how many miles the vehicle has.
