2020 AMG GTC Coupe & 2018 Macan Turbo
Touch Screen Upgrade?

I own a 2020 FL AMG GTC Coupe. My DD is a 2018 Porsche Macan Turbo (bought new). My nav screen is all by touch. But the Benz? You want to notify a stalled vehicle in the shoulder using, for instance, Waze. It takes forever to dial all that crap until you give up. Has anyone here upgraded to a touch screen? I've found two companies. But both state up to 2019 models.

Has anyone with a 2020 FL C63 upgraded their nav screen to enable touch screen functionality? Any help would be appreciated.

@Flypenfly Quite a few people go with this: https://dmpcardesign.com/product-cat...mercedes-benz/

I would prefer to find an OEM MB unit from a newer year for my own car... but I don't know what year MB started using a touch screen, nor if it could be adapted to my C63. Let me know if you figure something out.

@Roysup OEM MB option would be sourcing a unit from US-spec facelift GLC models (2020-2021), which have the same 10.25" display screen but are running gen 1 MBUX with touchscreen capability. But besides touchscreen capability (which I personally don't care for), this would be a downgrade because Apple CarPlay is cropped with all MBUX units. Whereas NTG 5.5 provides full screen Apple CarPlay.

TBH, the placement of the center screen in the C63 and GT isn't really conducive to touchscreen. You have to reach with your arm in the air, so trying to hit the right spot on the screen while driving with a firm suspension ends up being a game of Whac-A-Mole. Even in non-AMG models with MBUX gen 1, my finger bounces around and it's like target practicing. I've caught myself multiple times not paying attention to the road anymore, because I was focused on touching the right part of the screen to change a setting or something. It's extremely distracting. In the newer models with MBUX 2+ and the large center screens you can at least rest your arm on the center console while operating the touchscreen. It still is a bit of faffing at times trying to touch the right part while driving. I can operate the jog wheel in my C63 w/o looking at it. Simple things like changing the 360 camera views are so much easier with the jog wheel than using the touchscreen and parking at the same time. Granted, CarPlay is designed for touch, so it's not as straight forward to operate with the physical controls, but I don't really have any issues with it.

Totally agree. The touchscreen placement in those models is awkward and distracting. Physical controls like the jog wheel are way better for quick, eyes-on-the-road adjustments. CarPlay is the only thing that really needs touch, but even then, it’s not ideal. MBUX 2+ improved it, but buttons and wheels still win.
