What's up guys, so I am saying up front I really have no background/skill when it comes to tires and rims and offsets. But what I am trying to find out is what is the widest tire I can get away with on my C63 rears without having to get new rims or have it rubbing. I am running stage 2 tune and want to do downpipes and I already just spin all through 1st and 2nd so I know I have read some threads in the past where guys were running like 305's on the back or something like that to get better traction. With my stock wheels, can I run 305's or would I need to get something else? I have the stock 265/35/19's on the back with new PS 4S tires. Any guidance on what I could do in the back to help me out is much appreciated. these are my wheels
Hey hopefully this makes it out to you in time as i have some sort of weird ego ban going on.
But this size you're currenlty running is close to the maximum width recommended for those rims. Ive seen some people run 305 wide tires on stock rims, it’s generally not ideal though because 305 tires usually need wider rims (around 10.5 inches) for proper fit and safety if you really wanna make sure you're good. For better traction with your stage 2 tune and downpipes, a safer upgrade is to go up around 285 or 295 width tires on your stock rims if you don't wanna change the rims out. This will give you more grip without compromising fitment or risking dreadful rubbing. Stickier tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S also help a lot.
If you really want 305s on the rear, you will likely need to get aftermarket rims around 10.5 inches wide with the correct offset to avoid rubbing and maintain proper clearance. I mean you possibly could get away with running 305s on your stock rims but id assume you'd most likely run into some sort of issues. But i personally have never tried so my anecdotal advice isnt much lol.
I'm running stage 2 ECU, TCU, and CPC upgrades and was running 285s in the rear 265s in the front. I'm now running 275s in the front and 305/30/20s in the rear from nitto. (Nitto NT555RII) If you're lowered then maybe maybe running but eh.
Skip the size and go up in compound. With stock size I get zero wheel spin with Bridgestone RE71RS tires. On the 19 cross forged sedan a very safe size is 255/35/19 and 275/35/19.

Are you running a tune on yours? Like stage 1 it spun some but was manageable but after stage 2 it just spins all through first and that is with new PS 4S tires but stock sizes
