PFL vs FL steering wheel

Hi guys!

Had you noticed that FL steering wheel is thinner than PFL?

I felt it was the case when I got my FL, and last week I could check that with a friends PFL…

Is not a huge difference, but you can definitely feel a better grip on PFL steering

Just sharing 😬

Is it the same case if it is the Alcantara and/or CF one?

on oem wheels an Alcantara wheel may feel the same but looking at it through a material standpoint, Alcantara is slightly thinner

when we build carbon wheels we try to maintain a consistency of 30% thicker than stock.
keeping a carbon wheel stock thickness almost looks silly

Better grip I suppose is subjective. It's been a while since I held a PFL steering wheel. However, the FL steering wheel is thinner than the steering wheel was in my prior Audi RS5. At first it bothered me until I discovered that it works perfectly with driving gloves. I have the Alcantara wheel and with the thicker wheel in my RS5 it became too chunky when I wore my driving gloves making the grip worse and I ended up not wearing them most of the time when I hit up the canyons. But with the FL C63 wheel I can now wear them again for a perfect grip. I don't wear the gloves for just normal driving, but for the track and canyon carving I prefer wearing gloves, partly so that I don't end up sweating all over the steering wheel and for a consistent grip. Seems like there was some thought put into it.

I see, looks like another forum member chimed in with better information and answer to your question.

I find the thickness of the FL wheel to be too thin. I wish they kept the thicker wheels, it just feels better.
