Protection Plans?

Always heard it was ripoff?
This is really an interesting POV because I have always heard that the prepaid maintenance plans had a big markup/profit margin and weren't actually a good value, costing a lot more money. You experience is the opposite?

on my C class the major B service is 625-650$ If I had the maintenance plan it would be 499$ so would of saved quite a bit.

no I may not of been clear I've gotten a few things done on my car and bought parts from the dealer ship so they give a discount "loyal customer" kind of thing.
the second part is yes you do save money on the prepaid maintenance at my dealership there is a sign with it saying save 20% plan a head blah blah can't remember exactly but when i go in if i remember ill take a picture and post it. I tried to buy the prepaid maintenance after but I did not qualify because I did not buy it in the time frame I waited to damn long.

For those that did get the interior protection plan (PermaPlate appearance protection - leatherguard), can you please provide examples of claims you submitted that were honored (i.e. what kind of damage was covered under the plan)?
And if any one has examples of damage that was not covered under the interior protection plan it would be helpful if you could advise on those as well.
Just looking for real-world examples of claims that were honored, not just what they list on their agreement.
