Export Policy Agreement

Hi;

My new SUV is arriving.
Looking for some solid advice, or expertise on the Export form.

I have no problem signing the Export policy agreement. Plan on keeping the car for 5-7 years. Even told them to add the 3 year PPM, and up the warranty to 6 years.

But are these dealers asking to hold a deposit for 1 year?

This dealer has asked to hold $10,000 for a year, so they have collateral in case its exported.

I have no problem signing my life away for their form.

$10,000 interest free hold, sounds crazy.

Has it happened to any others?

Thanks.

I have never heard of this kind of arrangement. Not Porsche. Not BMW. Not Audi.

I just ordered a car and if my dealer is asking such, I would cancel my order at time of delivery as this kind of disclosure should be made from the time I put in my order.

I know it may take time, however, I would talk to someone in provincial gov as what you have suggested does not make sense ------or at least talk with the MB dealer finance folks and ask---who's authority!!

I'm guessing this is for a GLS and it's also a cash deal. If that's the case then yes that's what MB is doing because the GLS' are being exported like crazy to china. That's why there's over a year wait list for the car.

No, it's a full finance.

Fully decked out, 550.
Even adding tint, extended warranty till 6 years/160km and pre paid maintenance for 3 years.

Should I go to the general manager and complain?

You can try but I don't think it'll get you anywhere. They've put that export deposit on pretty much every GLS order. Whether you like it or not, there's way more demand for GLS then there is supply right now so if you don't want the car they're more than happy to take the next customer who wants it and is willing to pay. That's just the reality unfortunately.
