GLA45
Continental tires cracking

New gla45 owner. The car was used, but great shape. Come time to put my winter rims/tire I noticed my oem rims/tires(original) were severely cracked.

I called Continental Canada toll free who says they can’t help me and that they don’t back their products essentially. These were made on 2114, so not old.

Anyone with advice?

Some of the high performance summer tires can't be used (even flexed) below a certain temperature or they'll crack (e.g., Michelin Pilot Super Sport and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires ... but boy, are they fantastic in the summer!). You may find that your Continentals are of that type and were flexed while at freezing temperatures. Ask Mr. Google, he knows all.

^ This. If those are summer tires (and they look like they are), they get brittle at low temperatures and will crack if they're left on the car when the temperature drops. The cracks look like they extend from the tread blocks where you'd get the most flexing, which also supports this theory.

And, those also look pretty worn, so it's moot point anyway as they need to be replaced regardless.

GLA45
These tires were never on the car when the temperature was cold out or in the garage. I had other performance cars that were stored in a un/heated garage and those tires never cracked (Michelin pilot PS2 and Goodyear supercar)

I am told that the first GLA45 that made it this side of the pond had to have all 4 tires replaced before delivery due to pre mature cracking. I am thinking these might never of been replaced and overseen on the ppi as these have a manafacture date of 21-14

Still about 40% life left on the tires.
