Costly Repairs

Own a 2013 GLK 250 Bluetec. This is by far the most money I have spent on repairs. $10 000 in 3 years. Currently in the shop to get alternator rebuilt. Mercedes seems to think that there alternators are worth $1400. Ridiculous.

Buying a used, entry-level premium car that is *designed* to fall apart after 8-9 years so that it is no longer feasible to service and keep on the road will get you every time. We live in a disposable society where every single manufacturer designs their goods with planned obsolescence being one of the design characteristics. How is this unexpected?
