Custom Color-keying The Chrome Moldings

My CL is black and I want to "black out" or color-key all the chrome moldings to the body color (front & rear bumpers, doors panel, and around the windows). Has anyone done this or know if there's any special prep work that needs to be done to the chrome before it's painted so the paint adheres and doesn't scratch off (I was told that it will unless it prepped right)???

Or: I heard you can purchase some of the parts without chrome, Euro-style. If so, is this available for the CL and where?

All of them, as much as I can...
I remember doing this to another car. I scuffed all the chrome, used "gloss off" to clean it, then another good wipe down with acetone before taping and spraying with satin (dull) finish black. Flat black didn't work and came off easily. :p

I haven't done it on the latest body style, but on my 99 I put this tint like tape that adhered to the chrome and blacked it out..Worked great, looked great and could take off and not expensive..Check a body shop that is where I had it done at..Hope this helps,Chas Jr

My body shop doesn't know about this; please tell me where I can find out about this tape.
