Help me with my ABC's

Ok,

I'm going to an auction tommorrow and may buy a 00 CL500 with 49k. It has the abc light on. THe car rides fine, I test drove it today. The mechanic that works at the auction said he pulled the code and it said bad abc pump.

I dont see how this is possible, isnt the abc driven by the power steering pump?? The power steering worked fine on the car and the abc fluid res. was full, the filter looked alittle dirty.

My question is what is likely the problem?? And how much??
Does a flush and filter change ever fix the problem??
Also a battery was just replaced, any chance the light needs to be reset??

Thanks for your help in advance,
Scott

flush and filter isn't gonna fix anything. It has a problem, and if it is the pump, just like everything else on this car, its not cheap. You may want to call a dealer and find out for sure beforehand. But be careful.

Bought the CL today, the front right shock/strut is leaking. I drove it home and the light reset, no more red ABC light that won't clear. When I got home and restarted it the Red abc light came on again.

Anyone know where to get a Strut besides dealer??

Update, the strut was not leaking but the pump or hoses were and the fluid was slung all over the underside of the car. The leak is coming somewhere around the PS pump, where all of the hoses meet. The shock is not leaking and the pressure valve is not leaking (valve under the passenger floor)either. Maybe the light is on because of the low fluid level. Its not very low but about 1 inch below the cold mark. Its not a pouring leak either.
