White 2002 cl600 value

Hey guys i'm looking at a 2002 cl600 to buy. It is white (seems to be a rare color) with beige interior. It has 20000 miles on it ans is in very nice condition almost excellent. Whats a fair price for the car from a private seller? Thanks for the help.

Check out kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book). From there, you can find the fair market value of almost any late model mass production vehicle.

These are dealer auction prices and honestly they do not reflect the price of a decent car that was owned by someone that you know. You have no idea the condition of the vehicle when it is at an auction. There are some decent cars but there is also some real crap that goes through auctions.

I know used car dealers where the employees take turns driving the "nice" cars home, generally beating on them because they do not care. They are not like the owners of cars on this forum who take great care of their cars.

Some of these auction cars have been in accidents, some are repo cars, some are flood damaged cars, some are buybacks. You don't get that info when you look at an auction price. One run of the VIN's on carfax will show you the shocking # of cars with these problems.

I have bought and sold used cars for as long as I have been driving and everytime I went for cheap, I lost out in the long run. You have to look for and buy quality... especially on something like a CL. You are not buying a Civic. PM me that info and I will tell you what its worth.

It was just for info, not implying anything. Some good cars can be bought at auction, of course not as good as a 19k mile 02 1 owner. If it said lease beside the price that means no dealer drove it home for a beating. That means that it was a MB credit lease turn in. I would not go over 45k. Actually if you got anywhere near $60k to spend get an 03 600..

I just left a deposit on an 01 CL 600 with 27K miles, Black on grey interior. Very clean. I got the car for $48K Certified for a year to 100k miles plus free scheduled maintenance for 48 months or 100K miles whichever comes first( a weekend promotion they are having on all certified cars there) plus they are selling me additional 2years on top of the warranty for cost (2895). I really like the car color combo, the car is very clean, but is this a good deal????

I just kind of only want to buy from a mercedes dealer because if anything breaks on that V12 its going to be so expensive to fix out of warranty. So is this a good deal? thanks

Diaz,

Congratulations on your new purchase! I think you are going to love driving your new CL; I know that I have enjoyed my 2002 immensely so far.

Buying the extended warranty was a wise move IMO. It can easily pay for itself with just one repair, and as you may have gathered from visiting this site, the CL is not without some issues - mainly electrical and ABC suspension related. But as long as you know that going in and are covered by a good warranty, it seems a reasonable compromise given the absolute driving pleasure this car otherwise gives.

I purchased the 4yr 60k mile Millenium Platinum protection plan from a Benz dealer with approximately 15k miles on the odometer right at the end of the manufacturer's 4 year warranty. It cost $3100 and covers the car up to 75k miles (60 + 15) with a $200 deductible for each visit, regardless of the number of repairs needed that visit. So if you are covered to 100k and are getting two years in addition to the manufacturer's warranty, I'd say that sounds reasonable as long as the ABC and other major components, including the nav system and stereo, are covered.

As far as the purchase price goes, some will say you're getting a good price and some will say it's too high. Based upon your description of the car, I will say that your purchase price is well within a reasonable range for that year and you certainly are not being ripped off. If the car looks good and you feel you are getting good value for your money - and it sounds as if you are - then you are getting a good deal. There is always a BETTER deal, just like the grass is always greener on the other side, but it does sound like you are getting a GOOD deal. Just my 2 cents.

Enjoy.

If the car is in good shape, its a good deal.
