a kind of furry problem, i am just uncertain about transporting my...

friend's dog. without thinking i agreed to pick up her dog from the pet motel early tomm. morning. she is going through some hard times and needs to be at her mother's bedside for another week and did not want her baby to stay another week at the motel. i immediately said yes because she is a longtime friend but as soon as i hung up the phone i was like.......***** !!!
this dog is M-A-S-S-I-V-E, she is a large german shepherd, sheds like mad, licks everything, is EXTREMELY HYPER, and oh man she can crap !!!
i really love this dog but not in my car!!! i actually cannot even borrow a different car because if the car doesn't smell enough of me or my friend, SHE CANNOT BE BUDGED. %$#*&$ !!!
possible solutions i have thought of:
1. just say i forgot
2. large bedsheet w/holes cut + tape
3. tranquilizer + FEDex Ground
just kidding...i just don't know right now. can a dog's claws damage leather? will the dog smell stay and take over my kinda new car smell?
am i over reacting?

just put down a sheet and it wont be a big deal, id say the claws could possibly scracth things so just lay down something soft...oh and if there is any smell from a dog riding in your car one time just spray that ozium and it will be gone anyway so good luck

Place a heavy blanket and pinch it with the seat back....spend a little time with it, yes the claws can tear up your leather....

If she is a REAL friend she will let you borrow her car.

I've put an eggshell foam bed pad under a sheet in mine and it protected my seats from the beasts nails...

Good luck...enjoy cleaning that dog hair off the carpets.....

I was recently in a similar situation w/ my own dog. My wife wanted me to pick our resident canine up from the groomers. When she asked if I were going to pick the dog up in the CL & let him ride in style, I looked at my wife and then inquired if she had taken her meds!

i was so nervous but i used a thick blanket and it worked. the bigger issue was the beast (named beaux) kept licking my hair. i pushed her muzzle away but fending off the assault was very dangerous while driving (almost ran into a mailbox). i ended up using the detachable cupholder to keep the beast at bay. well, she is sleeping now (took over the sofa immediately). the 30 minute drive felt like an 8 hour plane ride.
