Wow!
check out the side profile. I like both of them, but the roof line and the window line looks better in the old CL. What do you guys think?

The new model needs a little more rake, I kind of like the 'flying wedge' look of the old one. Not liking the more upright grille on the new model either.
On the plus side, the new model looks more sophisticated with CLS like styling. Also seems to have more S class styling cues than the previous model, which looked more like an E class. Overall, I think its progress.

I agree on the S Class cues...the "four eye" E Class lights never impressed me on the current model.

Anyone else checked out eMercedesbenz.com lately? The last couple of days have been a CL photo fest. Here's a link to the interior photos

Now Jack, on a more personal note, you should be pleased that MB so liked your white S550 that they used your color for the introduction pictures of the new CL ! Congratulations on being such a trendsetter !

Ya, I'll admit, my CL600 suddenly appears dated. DAMN!!!
It is such a rare car though that I don't believe it will appear dated to the general public for a while though. The new E class didn't change all the much and still shares some of the "dated" look.

To me... the old CL (W215) always looked outdated even before I knew what a CL was, but I still bought it anyways. The front of the new CL looks awesome..especially when the AMG version comes out... I wonder if I can do some conversion...hmmm . Sucks for those who just got a 05 or an 06

All "old" MB are classic, refined and elegant but time marches on and design trends must keep up with changing desires. I loved my '77 280E design and my '79 450SL but I also loved all the other that followed and I don't have to tell you how satisfied I am with the S550. I think the new CL will be accepted as another feather in MB's cap as it leads the industry in innovation.

it's a sad day when mercedes is trying to copy BMW. i can understand Lexus ripping off MB, but MB copying BMW i loved MB cars, even with all the quality control problems. but this is a disgrace. if i want a BMW, i will get a BMW, not a BMW look-alike
come on!how hard is it to come up with a new head light that's not stolen from bmw's designer's trashcan?

...oh crap! -- I thought they would never be able to make it better looking!!! That is STUNNING-- however, we should compar the 2 side by side in the same color-- (or at least close in color)

why is everyone worried about being dated? these carmakers release a new model so often you'll be driving to the poor house if you try to keep up with it...around here in wealthy fairfield county connecticut i see rich folks driving around in 1998 mercedes benz cars and older models and they still to me are very nice cars...anyway i really do like the new model cl class, i think it is looking very good in the photographs, but the way i look at it is i see people driving the previous generation s class around here and it doesnt appear dated at all not even if a new s was parked next to it, few people know a new model is out and most people do not care what so ever...!plus the pics used for comparison above are a plain dark blue cl600, so compare a cl like a silver with nicer rims and tints and so on and it wont look as dated picture to picture..this is how i feel about the whole situation...is anyone going to ditch their current cl for the new one by the way???????????????????
