anyone ever....

expirience this?.... My driver's door windows were intermittently not working properly at first (they would not automatically go back up whe the door was closed), now, there is no power to the door at all, nothing works, (seat fans/heater, seat controls, pwr mirrors, doorlights, ect) the door won't "suck" closed either. -- any ideas??

yeah, it's there now... in case anyone else was wondering, looks like it is a "door control module"-- they are willing to cover 1/3 the cost for me (nice guys there)

Ask your Service Advisor regarding this Service Bulletin posted on July 31, 2003 for W215 models:

Make : MERCEDES BENZ Model : 215 Year : 2000
Manufacturer : MERCEDES-BENZ USA, LLC.
Service Bulletin Num : 541897 Date of Bulletin: JUL 31, 2003
NHTSA Item Number: 10002954
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Summary:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR NONFUNCTIONAL.

--

This may be causing the problems w/ your power windows. When I had my CL, i had the same problem. Mine was in the shop for alot of issues related to service bulletins and recall actions never performed on my car.
Good luck and it should be covered under warranty.

looks like it's the harness in the door/ dash-- which is part of the service bulletin, however, i guess recalls, not service bulletins are covered by warranty. here we go...$$$$

ICEAMG,

Sorry to hear dealer is gonna charge you for the fixes. I was checking and found out there are some significant recalls on 2000 CLs. These under federal law have to be fixed free by dealers. Please review and see if they have been fixed on your car.

1.

Make : MERCEDES BENZ Model : CL CLASS Year : 2000
Manufacturer : MERCEDES-BENZ USA, LLC.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 06V028000 Recall Date : FEB 01, 2006
Component: INTERIOR LIGHTING
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 36911
Summary:
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTAINS GAUGES AND INDICATORS THAT MUST BE ILLUMINATED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION.
Consequence:
DUE TO INADEQUATE ILLUMINATION, THE DRIVER WILL BE UNABLE TO READ THE GAUGES AND INDICATORS, SUCH AS THE SPEEDOMETER, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MODULES. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN JULY 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MERCEDES-BENZ AT 1-800-367-6372.
Notes:
CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

2.

Make : MERCEDES BENZ Model : CL CLASS Year : 2000
Manufacturer : MERCEDES-BENZ USA, LLC.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 00V141000 Recall Date : MAY 15, 2000
Component: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:AIR CONDITIONER
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 7100
Summary:
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. DUE TO AN INTERNAL DEFECT IN THE CIRCUITRY OF THE BLOWER MOTOR REGULATOR, THE REGULATOR MAY OVERHEAT.
Consequence:
THIS COULD CAUSE SURROUNDING PLASTIC, INSULATION, AND WIRING TO DEFORM AND POSSIBLY MELT OR BURN.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR REGULATOR.
Notes:
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 22, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MERCEDES-BENZ AT 1-800-367-6372. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

3.

Make : MERCEDES BENZ Model : CL CLASS Year : 2000
Manufacturer : MERCEDES-BENZ USA, LLC.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 04V227000 Recall Date : MAY 04, 2004
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 54454
Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, DURING THE PRODUCTION PROCESS OF THE BLOWER MOTOR FUSE HOLDER, THE SIZE OF THE ELECTRIC CONDUCTOR OF THE HOLDER MAY BE BELOW APPROPRIATE TOLERANCES.
Consequence:
CONSEQUENTLY, THE ELECTRIC CONDUCTOR OF THE BLOWER MOTOR FUSE HOLDER MAY DISSIPATE MORE HEAT THAN THE PLASTIC FUSE HOLDER WAS DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND, WHICH COULD RESULT IN OVERHEATING OF THE HOLDER AND DISABLING OF THE BLOWER MOTOR AND THE ABILITY TO DEFROST OR DEFOG THE WINDSHILED IN COLD OR HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONDITIONS. DEPENDING ON THE OCCURRENCE AND WEATHER SITUATION, DRIVER VISIBILITY COULD BE REDUCED, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW BLOWER MOTOR FUSE HOLDERS. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING OCTOBER 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MERCEDES-BENZ AT 1-800-367-6372.
Notes:
MERCEDES-BENZ RECALL NO. 2004 070010. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Trust me bro..i absolutely loved my CL 500. It was amazing looking car. But after one month of ownership, even though it was under warranty, too many electricial issues caused me to re-think my decision and decided to get rid of it. Each time i drove it, i was somewhat paranoid of possible problems popping up. I couldn't stand the thought of buying such a high-end car and taking it for repairs for four straight weeks at the dealership.

I hope your experience is better than mine and you get to enjoy your CL each day without major issues.
