Lease Is Almost Up. Mb Wants Me To Buy Car
My lease is up in December and the factory called to ask how I wanted to end my lease. The nice lady explained that my residual is $67,000. I told her that I will promptly return the car at lease end for two reason: New model is going to drive value further into the ground and a car with 40k miles is a ticking timebomb for more electroinc problems. She the said that she could reduce the car's price to $54,000 + tax and finance it for $1384/month for 48month. No thanks, Nice car, but it's about to be a "has been" when the new model arrives.

$68K. MB dropped it to $54k and just left me a message that the can drop it further. The bottom line for me is that CL values are soft and when the body style changes, the value melts like hot butter. That, combined with no extended warranty included in the deal and unimpressive dealer support, makes their offer (and a continued relationship with MB) unappealing.
If they make a similar offer on my wife's SL600, then I may take the deal.

Offer $37,000 for the car. If they are smart, they will take the deal. They don't want to own your car because the values are dropping faster than a rock off a cliff.

Check the earlier post "tell me why I shouldn't pull the triger..." Also, a friend bought an '06 with 3K miles back in Feb with more than that off (South Florida). I really think people are fed up with the poor quality of these cars. I know with the experience I've had with my '02 CL500, I won't buy another at practically any price. Funny thing, I told my friend who bought the '06 above not to do it because of the quality issue, but unfortunately, he bought it and learned the hard way as it has had many trips to the shop thus far.
