this should appeal to anybody considering buying a cl500 now that they are very inexpensive to buy used..and this should also close the case of whether or not to buy an aftermarket warranty once you get the car...

my car is at the dealer right now which i brought in for a simple service check up...i get a call back two days later and it needs about 2000 dollars of work..

that bring the total cost of work done paid out of pocket to about...$6000...

all this news today made me consider selling the car and buying something new..

be careful with these cars.

Right you are. These cars are not for those without a good warranty or deep pockets for repairs and maintenance. MB is not what it used to be.

Blahz:

I feel your pain. Even though I still love her, I have been forced to start thinking about what car is next also due to a rash of problems. I mean; what fun is it if you can't even drive it? I have been without mine since Nov. 1st.

Right after I had posted on some thread (I think you posted on it too) about the abc going bad...IT HAPPENED TO ME!...Perfect!

I was out at dinner and when we came out to the car after; the passenger side was slammed on the rubber of the tires; it looked sweet... but it was def. immobile. See bad camera phone pics below:

It took me and the flatbed operator about an hour and a half to get the car SAFELY onto his rig. (you should have seen the dancing floorjack operation to swing the ride into position) So far, my dealer has had to install brand-new: seals around all windows, command unit, cd changer, driver and pass windows!, new fuel door and latch, new trunk closer and latch, new sun visors, new trim pieces around the seat tracking, new shift knob, new rear sunshade, and new door handle sensors for key, and I think there's still more. Right now, I've got them working the ABC, tranny and a mysterious rattle from the motor only on cold start-ups...I don't know what's going on with it and I have'nt gotten a call yet from the dealer. ALL I need now is a new motor and tranny-I'm working on it!

Anyway- You are right; and as most already know, the maintainance issue is ridiculous...glad I've got my extended warranty-even though I'm still maxing out the original. Upside is I don't have to worry about the E350 loaner they gave me to tear around in.

Blahz: Did you have to pay on this last one? I thought you got your extended? If not, are you gonna get one? You already know they're about 4k- and worth it.

P.S. I also agree with other members about being weary of all euro's...after 4 months of ownership my little brother is selling his '02 BMW 540i because of the problems he's having.

well i probably could have gotten an extended warranty as soon as i got the car about a year ago..but now the mileage is way too high and its hard to find a warranty company...

...so it was slammed and did you start it and see if itll pop back up? or just call the truck...

anyway i love the car but its getting out of hand with the repairs....this is my second mercedes (both bought used) and i think my next car will have to be something new and probably not a mercedes,,,and with manual transmission..
