Quirky Electronics

I just experienced something wierd. My soft touch door on the drivers side quit working. It started to **** me off, but I didnt panic too much. What I did notice though when it wasnt working was that the windows would go up immediately when the door closed. When the soft touch works, it takes a little while for the windows to go up. Anyone know why this is? And by a little while, I mean between 3-10 seconds after the door closes. Not immediately after the door closes.

I disconnected the battery, turned on my headlights to drain all residual juice in the lines and reconnected the battery. After I did this, the pneumatic door works again, but the windows delay after the door is shut. Is this just a quirk, or a bigger problem?

Are you referring to the power door assist not working? If so, my '02 CL500 did the same thing a while back and had to take it in for repair. I don't remember what the problem was other than MB having to replace a part.

Window Control Module

I remember a thread last year.
It had to do with a module under the rear seat.
This module controls the window function.

Mine is starting to do the same trick again.
It seemed to go away with the new battery last spring.
I also think that it can cause a battery drain.
Thats what I am getting again too. After 4 days
sitting, battery is down to like 11 Volts and just enough to
start the car. And the windows are getting worse and worse
about sealing up the first time. Especially with a low battery charge.

My closer broke about a month ago, scared the crap out of me, I though someone hit my car. I am taking it in for that and the instrument cluster this month.

What did it sound like when your soft close broke? Mine went out yesterday in the garage and it sounded like a metal pump explosion. Wife wa sin the car and I ws outside when the loud pop went off.

Sounded like it was in the trunk but not sure. Trunk closes fine and so does passenger door but drivers soft close is out and hear air leaking from door.

I went thru this with my '02 shortly after I bought it. It was fixed under warranty and a relay or other electrical component was the culprit.
