Powerchip??

Any one here has had the ECU upgrade via Powerchip?

If so are you satifised?

I have 03 CL6 and I'm considering having it done.

Renntech vs. Powerchip they both are making similiar claims on HP & TQ.

Look at the dyno charts between the two companies. I chose Renntech and put down 525 at the rear tires. I think the only dyno of the Powerchip I saw put down around 478 RWHP but the peak hp was in a very narrow range whereas the Renntech gain was throughout the entire range. I averaged over 100 RWHP gain at just about every RPM. To me there was no comparison when it came to absolute power gain. Go Renntech!

Almost 95% members of the forum that has 600/65 chose Renntech's Stage 1 and have top notch results.

www.dragtimes.com , 600 and 65 Renntech cars are mostly the fastest.

2003 V12 CL600, a Supercharged 2002 Z06, an 89 Corvette and an 07 Jeep Wrangler
Hello,

I am new to this forum. I just purchased an 03 V12 CL600. All I can say is wow! I have a supercharged 02 Z06. This CL is a rocket. How would I know if it has a modified chip or been tuned. It can't be stock (way to fast). My vett is 617 hp and is a beast but this car is unbelievable. The reason I think it may have been modified is it has 285 35 20 HRE wheels on it. If it has not been tuned, what does this cost for these cars? Oh, by the way my vett gets better gas mileage! Lastly, there are lots of atfermarket goodies for vettes. How about these cars? I can't find much on the web (mats, cargo liner)

Thanks ,

Andrew

One reason why I chose Renntech is because of the TCU upgrade in addition to the ECU. The transmission software upgrade is important too and I'm pretty sure Powership is only upgrading the ECU. The extra money for Renntech eas worth it to me.

Hey Andrew,

The retail pricing on the stage 1 upgrade is $6400, but you can pm me for EuroElites pricing for Mbworld members.

Thanks Adam. Does anyone know of any aftermarket companies that sell stuff for a CL600 (trunk liner, car mats, accessories)?

I don't mean to pick out incorrect things but 95% is very exaggerated. Given the small number of 600's and 65's that are produced, and the very high number of cars Powerchip tunes, I cannot see 95% of customers going to Renntech.

Ok, let me rephrase that, majority of 600/65 owners have renntech ecu/tcu.

I don't see how this conclusion came about. With Renntech's software being $6,400 compared to $2,400 for Powerchip's software that provides the same gains, I cannot see the majority of 600/65 customers forking out the extra $4,000 for no reason. I can see if it were a body kit or similar tangible product where the Renntech name and design would be present, but not software.

No disrespect to a fellow vendor but I would like to see an independent dynochart for the 65/600 Powerchip software; with the same gains as the Renntech software.

The Software Battle of Prices. A good thing.

I am in the computer business.
Understand completely about firmware and software.
The cost to develop and the curve of profit on that design time.
OK kids this aint rocket science.
Whats the cost on the time to write this firmware and debug ?

Thinking about flashing my SL55 soon so have been paying
attention to these posts.

Looks like from some of the recent posts.
Its time for Renntech to get price competitive.
$ 6400.00 for a ECU/TCU Flash ???

In my business we have a saying about prices.
Fair/Resonable/Expensive/Rape.
$ 6400.00 is just pure Rape.
Can you say picking the low hanging fruit from AMG owners with money to burn ? Markets change. Prices change. Business gets competitive.

Its healthy for competition.
Business will always take the path of least resistance.
That also true with prices and services. Especially anything
computer related. Ever hear of Moores Law ?

Adam. I have read your posts for almost a year.
But time to face reality. Renntech is being rude with that kind of pricing.
For a $ 4000.00 difference. I am going to try the other vendor too.

Renntech pricing decision lies with Renntech. I have personally advised Renntech to lower the prices of the software since last January. I have always been a consumer advocate as I am too a consumer. Many of my MBworld clients will definately agree with me that i try to help them as much as i can in terms of pricing.

O.k. guys no its a newbies turn - $6,400 is crazy !! I have a supercharged Z06 that makes 617 hp and 585 torque. The dyno tune was $500. The blower was $8,900, carbon fiber hood $1,800 and then paint. These are modifications. Why would anyone pay that much for a chip or ECU? I just purchased an 03 V12 CL600 and am amazed vendors can charge that much. For $6,400 in Corvette world you can get a nice forged motor. Before you say these are Mercedes Benz - I know. Corvettes don't compare to these cars in luxury and craftsmanship (thats why I own two MBZs). I agree with the above post. Just my two cents!
