I too, received a letter for my CL500 a few days ago. When I took my car in last month to have my left rear strut replaced under warranty, the dealer was nice enough to fix this problem for me in advance.
However, from the service history my car has, I don't think the ABC pump has been replaced at all. For some reason, whenever I see a potential problem that's even remotely related to ABC, it makes me somewhat worried.

I think it could be a computer error of some sort? What is everyones thoughts on this?
PS: For future reference. This is off the subject, but I just fixed a driver door problem I had for the past 2 months. It keep shorting out and when I took it in for the ABC recall they told me I needed a 500 dollar part which is the door switch or so called by the dealer "the door controller" plus 200 for labor. I was in shock once again. So that totals 1200 for the ABC and the 700 for the door =$1900! Well I ended up buying the part and doing it myself today Aug. 07th 2007 and it was a easy thing to do! It was a plug and play part, but it still didn't work! Well I checked the door and all fuses for power and they were all good besides 1 running to the door switch!
Well It turns out that the dealer didn't do that good of a check on my car since all that was wrong is a red wire had been cut in half! I put the split wires back together and everything works fine with the old door switch. Now I am out $440 dollars that I just paid for the electric part which is still with 15% off. I am going to try and return this part tomorrow since they mis diagnosed the problem, so wish me luck! How many people think I will get my money back? I am doubting it, but might get lucky.
Please let me know if there is a easy fix to the ABC problem.
Thank You
Keith Herzog

If you are good with your words and how you talk to people it should not be a problem. If it comes to it, get the service manager involved. If they had done the work the tech would be able to return it with no problem
I actually took it back earlier today. They gave me the run around for a bit, but finally received a refund.
Now I just need to take care of this ABC problem, I just don't trust the misdiagnosing of the dealer anymore! They told me I needed a $700 service and all I really needed to do is put 1 red wire back together that was severed. I really don't feeling like spending 1200 dollars on a Front right valve for the ABC when it is probably just some kinda computer code that needs to be reset. For now all I have to do is turn the car on and then off and back on again to make the Active Body Control work properly on a daily basis. I do get sick of doing it tho, but the worse I see myself getting into in the future with this method is a new starter. Well if anyone finds anything out about this thru there dealer in another deal or something please let me know because I would love to fix these without having to replace a part I think is not the problem.
PS: Same guy (AL @ grand blanc motors in Grand Blanc MI) that told me the Door Control for $700 was bad, also told me that the $1200 control valve is bad. Do not bring your Mercedes there
