Engine RPM vibration and how to change air filters?

hi all, i havent been here for a while.. not since since we were having problems with our sl55, but we recently picked up a used cl500 so i'm back lol

so firstly, there is a vibration that is cyclical between 2500-3000 rpm and after 3000 it just vibrates continuously. any guesses as to what this might be? i've gone through just about every thread through search and browsing this forum and my best guess is maybe the engine mounts, but i'm not sure. any help would be greatly appreicated

and on a side note, how do you remove the airbox cover to install say a k&n filter? the k&n instructions say "1. Remove air filter"

My CL500 25000 mi, 2003, had a rough idle. Dealer replaced all the mounts. Service mgr said orginal mounts from supplier were failing early. Mine was replaced under warranty. I still have a little vibration at idle, but not as bad.

hope this is of some help

Yes!
I'm actually having a similar if not the same problem. Look at my thread called Check engine Light/WTF. It's possibly the oxygen sensors and or mass air flow sensor (MAF). Before you go to the dealer, you can save some money by ordering the parts yourself. The website is called www.oempartsdirect.com. Type in your CL's info and in the search bar, type in oxygen sensor. My car was idling at park, but now continues to idle through 3000 rpms. It's a reoccuring problem in CLs; I've changed my sensors and MAF twice. Be careful and patient. Try not to drive it too much. Also, the oil filter could be leaking onto the MAF. Hope this helps.

CL500 and ML55
Is it while car is in park also? Or only when moving?
If you can not trace it to the engine have your wheels checked.

...I just replaced all 4 of mine.
Upon inspection of the rims they were all bent- all 4 of them. They aluminum alloy MB uses for the stock wheels is VERY soft and bends quite easily.
The softer aluminum also absorbs vibration better I guess that is why Mercedes uses it for these wheels.
