Problems with my 2002 Cl500

Recently my speedometer and everything there stopped working ex: fuel gauge, etc. I just bought the car in February from a used car dealership. I took it to the mercedes benz dealership to have some things fixed. My right tail light is cracked and they said that its like $600 to fix. Also a peice of wood is loose and the driver door and they said that is $900 to fix. And now they are telling me the tires are cracked and those need to be replaced and all this other bs. So my question is should i take it to a different place to have it fixed? And also do Cl's break down a lot?

You can fix the wood panel on the door yourself. The plastic tabs probably broke- Some superglue for plastic will do the trick to glue the tabs back in place. - Same thing happenned to mine. The instrument cluster should be covered under the Mercedes recall notice. MB extended the warranty to 10 yrs on the guage cluster.

wow.. that's painful to hear. However, there's good news for you. There was a instrument cluster recall on 2002-2005 CLs, and any MB dealer will honor that, so get that taken care of, free of charge.

Next, tail light, you should fix it yourself. It's not difficult. Order the part online and DIY. For tires, check www.tirerack.com and buy them there. Dealers markup tires up bigtime.

Lastly, did you buy an extended warranty? If not, I hope you have deep pockets, bro. CLs are expensive to maintain. Gotta pay to play..

I bought a warranty and they approved of fixing the spedomoter. That's weird that if theres a recall that they would have to get the warranty to pay for it... Also the left mirror is loose (just the mirror not the whole thing) and they want to replace the whole thing, what can I do about this? And what website can I buy the tail light from?

As far as the CL500 taillights.
I bought a set from this exact same guy a couple years ago.
Brand New. Original Benz. Just be careful putting them in.
Take your time. Dont drop any screws.
These are cool because they look the same as 2006 and are brighter.
Go to E-bay Ref Item # 320153792934
$ 380.00 for the pair. You wont need any additional parts.
But the wrench to get them off is Torex If I remember.
They really look better than the older style. Way worth the $$$$$.

Good luck with your CL.
Yes they have some gremlins. But its still a beautiful ride.

I just got the car back today. Handling definitely feels different. The steering wheel is a lot loser, the handling is not as firm, and I don't like this, and I have no Idea why this happened!

Check the ABC switch- it drives and handles more like luxury car when the light is off.
