Since you said faster, i would go CL55. AMG is more racer boy, the 600 is super lux. both are not going to get u 20MPG i do not thing and actually, if you can afford this car, you can afford $2.99/gal premo.

My Rennteched CL600 gets over 20 MPG on the HWY. Combined with a lot of city driving it's closer to 17 but I have seen over 24 on some longer trips when I didn't get on the throttle.
I'd imagine, in real word driving, that the CL600 will get better mileage than the 55 since the turbos are more efficient and don't have the superchargers parasitic drag. The 600 is also quicker/faster than the 55 and a whole lot easier/cheaper to modify.
Unless you like the exhaust note of the 55, IMHO, it's kind of pointless to chose the 55. Get a AMG bodied CL600, aftermarket wheels, Renntech ECU/TCU and call it a day. I have all of the above on my CL and it's for sale.

Buy one with it already on there like mine or buy the AMG kit and put it on. It will be cheaper buying a CL600 with the AMG body kit already installed than buying a used or new one and have it installed and painted.
