Help Need To Get Trunk Open
2002 cl500
ok the battery of my trunk died out over the weekend.
and now im having a hard time getting the trunk open.
the doors are open but i just cant get to the trunk.
the trunk i guess was replaced by the prior owner and the
mechanical key isnt working but the doors are unlocked
and when i hit the latch to open it it wont open.
is there any way i can get the car charged without opening
the trunk i tried the ciggerette lighter charger but that
hasnt been working any other way please help????

The trunk should open. I went through the same thing and just kept playing with the manual trunk opener on the trunk lid. I almost gave up but then said to myself that there is no way a car manufacturer is going to build a car that will not allow access to the trunk unless the battery is good. I finally got it opened. If the trunk lid wouldn't open with a dead battery, how would one replace the battery?

I think its the same as my 2000.
Get the little metal key out of the key. Push it out
Put it in the trunk lock. Turn left and push in at the same time.
Mine does the same thing if I let it sit for more than 5 days
without driving.

Did you try the cigarette lighter / charger just to open the trunk with the interior remote release? Maybe you can get enough of a charge for that feature to work instead of starting the car.
