2002 Cl500

Just looked at a 2002 CL500 with 52k on the clock.
It is a 2 owner car.
Only issue I could find was the SRS system has an error.
Techtite gray with charcola interior.
What is a fair price for the car?

Bruce

When I was looking for '02s this past summer the cars I was looking at had between 30k & 43K on the odometers; all but one had the AMG bodykit/wheel packages. Prices were in the low-to-mid-30s.

Thanks Pete
The seller is asking in the mid 30's.
Do you recall anything in the 2002 model that I should be looking at being fixed or replaced?
I guess I am looking for bargainin chips.

Thanks
Bruce

Just make sure ALL the electronics and computer-directed items work as they should. I sort of arbitrarily picked 2002 intinially 'cause it was 3 years into the C215 run, so I figured a lot of issues should have been sorted out; also, their prices were what I had in mind. For that money I would expect the AMG body kit & wheels and the ventilated seats. Also bear in mind that pre-'04 M-B's used a 12 CD set for the navigation. If you can, have someone run a VMI, it's a computer record of all the times the car was into the dealer; not counting accident reporting, it's, I believe, a more comprehensive type of Carfax report. My indie M-B repair guy, who is no BS artist and was going to get my business anyway, thinks the CLs are awesome cars. A new friend who works at the dealership here had his heart set on a new C class for his 44th birthday next August, but after experiencing my car has decided an '03 or '04 CL, for the same money, is a no brainer. Like any purchase of this sort, make sure your head and not just your heart is engaged ( alot easier for me to say than do!). Good luck!

I was going by the year also. I figure there were not many changes at that point.

How about the suspension? Does the 2002 use the ABC suspension?
If so what do you look for as problems.

Yeah, it has ABC, but as far as I've been able to learn it was not an issue, although there's an active recall to replace a hose in that system. I've learned that they started in '03 (not '04) with the DVD navigation, so you may want to check out an '03 - it's nicer, but for me it really isn't an issue as I haven't been totally able to figure it out, and I don't generally go anywhere where something like that is really required.

So I screwd up and read the VIN wrong. It is a 2003 not a 2002. Same questions do apply.
What do I look for as far as problem areas?
Thanks
Bruce
