4 estimates

OK getting my car ('04 CL55) back from the dealer and here are a few estimates for parts that break out of warranty. I'll let you know the status after each.

1. Mesh AMG grill in front, kind of dented from a rock or someone kicking it: $750. Status: I straightened it out myself and it is fine now

2. Auto-Climate control is jacked up, and only blows cool air when set between 54 and 57 degrees, above that it blows warm air: $650 for new panel or something. Status: I'll live with setting it to 54 - 57 degrees, manual cool air override (top of dash) works too, so it is fine, I am the only one who drives the car.

3. Front right AMG foglight is broken, glass smashed, but bulb still works: $300. Status: Help me out guys! Any ideas of where I can get this part myself?

4. One parktronic sensor hit by road pebble, now acting up: $240. Status: PAID to have it fixed.

Other than that, I am at 65k miles on the CL55 with no major problems.

Cheers,

I can help you with the fog lights.

I have a set on my CL and they'll cost you less than $200 shipped brand new.

PM me if you're interested and I'll refer you to the vendor.

Attached picture you'll see the actual fog lights installed on my car.

Thanks

Jon

Those fog lights will not work with the AMG CL front bumper.

How do you figure? It says right on the listing that: "Fits the vehicle:
Mercedes Benz CL55 AMG, 2003-2006"

Vendetta,

It doesn't matter what the ad says.

Unlike BMW, Mercedes uses various different parts even on the same model and therefore, it's every easy to be confused (probably even for some sellers in this instance).

As you would notice, I have actually posted more than a couple of threads regarding my saga of searching all the parts for my AMG front bumper conversion.

Eventually I was able to source the mesh grills, fog lights, mouldings, clips, headlight washer covers and tow hooks and I have all the perspective part numbers.

I guarantee that those fog lights will not fit the AMG bumper because:

1. AMG fog lights are oval in appearance, not square.
2. The part numbers do not match,
3. I don't' believe that other than my source (or the junk yard/dealer), there's going to be a single website in Google's database that will lead you to a CL AMG front bumper fog light seller in existence as of this Feb., and
4. Before I post any information, I will make sure what I say is 100% correct by exercising my due diligence.

Jeez Louise... Don't take it too personally. I wasn't calling you wrong, I was just asking how you figured. A simple "cause their part numbers for the CL500 and the CL55 AMG are the same, and we know they're not the same part in real life" would have been plenty good. Nice catch, though.

I didn't take it personally. I can be wordy at times. That's all.
