With that stated unfortunately, the dealership is not really blowing smoke up your butt. I'd go to other dealerships and try MB ones as well and see if they'd go above 26k.

Yeah, no kidding. I went through that myself and took a bath on the resale. However, as soon as I start seeing some upgrades to take them to 1000 hp, I'll jump back in another one. It also wouldn't hurt if someone could redesign the ABC so it was more dependable.

hey, don't shoot the messenger. if you think that you're going to take an '03 to a porsche dealer and get more than about 25k for it, you're dreaming. mannheim that mf'er and see what you find. like i said, the '02's are going for around 20k wholesale, the '03's will get you about 25k.

Good luck getting traction with 1000hp!! I can't get traction with 630hp; 1000hp would be spinning tires at 80mph.

Giggalo,
Unfortunately, I went through this crap many times with upgraded cars. You can't trade the car in period!!! I recently tried to trade-in (to a reputable Mercedes dealer) a modded '05 Cayenne Turbo in great condition and 28,000 miles. The Mercedes dealer offered me $45k and this was toward a brand new Benz. I got pissed and said forget it; I sold on Ebay about a month later for $58k. The dealers don't give you s**t for your upgrades.
You have no choice but to sell it privately on Ebay or Autotrader or some other site. You will eventually find someone who is looking for your car with your upgrades. If you're desperate to sell, then you're probably fuc**d because it may take some time to find the right buyer. I've had great experiences with Ebay and Autotrader and this is what I recommend to you.
Good luck!!

I was around 640+ hp in my CL and did not have severe traction issues. You need better/wider tires. You can never have too much power; rather, it's lack of traction that is the problem. Better/wider tires and learning to modulate the throttle is the key.

Funny I did the same thing with my 05 CTT but to CarMax, they quoted $39k for my 23k mile CTT, so I end up selling it privately for much higher price.

I appreciate what you're saying, but I expected more money from the dealership. Remember, I was trading in the car to purchase a brand new $100,000 MB. I ended up walking away and they lost a sale and a potential customer. I wanted them to meet me in the middle because their offer was way too low.

I am also looking to sell my 2003 Cl600. Miles a bit lower than yours but without your upgrades. I understand dealers don't care much for upgrade and you are better off selling them seperately and sell the dealer your stock car.
I got offered $35k on mine after hard negotiation and had the car inspected..BUT...most probably they charge me more on the car I was looking buying. So the dealers probably thought rather than arguing me all day, they just give me more on my car and not discounting the new car.
Most dealers I have called gave me $30k sight unseen. and most told me that if it were black, it would be $3-4k more. So I was surprised to learn about your trade in..is it because of your miles? Either way, that is way too low and I think you should try another dealer.
Manheim is a good indication, but keep in mind that that is auction prices, and if I am not mistaken, while they are given information and VIN, dealers are not able to fully inspect the car thoroughly (like PPI).
I suppose if they buy any given car from manheim for $30k, they will need $1-2k to detail it, then post the asking price close to $38k so they have room to negotiate to potential buyers.
I think if they are using manheim (wholesale) prices to buy our car, which they inspected, they should show us manheim prices on their cars and trade with those prices..
Anyway, the market is slow for ANY car now, especially for our V12's..Couple of years ago, people might see our car as a bargain. 25% of its original value, good looking Mercedes, 500hp, V12, full optioned car. Now, People are looking to save money on everything, especially gas.
People who buy our sort of cars are not that worried about gas prices, sure it affected us a bit, But when we purchase a $130k car, that is not what is on our mind. unfortunately, potential buyer in our cars' price range ($30k-$40k) do care about that and most of them are getting a Lexus Hybrid..which,by the way, is more expensive
