Sell the 500 and buy a 55 or 600. It will be cheaper to upgrade models and you will have much more power than if you just tried to modify your 500.

Do what I did. Keep the CL500 for driving and buy an AMG for the weekends.

The only bummer is when some kid in an M3 blows me off in my CL500.

Damn.
Driving the wrong car just pisses you off when you need your hammer.
Then when you have the SL55. No M3 in its right mind will even think about
trying to mess with you.

I guess you could K&N the filter. Mod the Exhaust. Maybe ECU but not sure what its going to buy you. Its still a German Tank. You need the SuperCharger or the Turbo V12 to make this boat fly.

I agree with all of that BUT you can probably run more leg in that CL than the kid in the M3, and isn't that what's really important?

I'm right there with you my friend. The car is decent the way it is but it's not fast by any means. The only real gains you will get are from a supercharger, and that will run you up to 10K, and with the additional mods you'll need to run it right, think 15K. To get a nice little power and torque gain for under 5K you can get headers, exhaust, and ECU through a reputable tuner like Kleeman or Renntech. I went with Kleeman and was able to get an ECU tune for 1K. It put about 13hp and 15lb ft of torque. I also added sprintbooster, BMC filters, Eisenmann exhaust, and opened up the intake a little bit. It made some difference but not enough to really go up against any cars that I wouldn't before. You won't kill any M3's...sorry. This car was built to recline and drive, not holeshot the competition, just enjoy it.
Not everybody can afford to run a CL daily driver and an AMG SL for the weekend, but if you are...that would be the way to go. I say go buy an older EVO or WRX and modify the **** out of it. You'll have more fun!
