ABC System

Can anyone please tell me how often I have to service the ABC system. Change the fluids and filters and whatever else that goes with it. Or would it better to drive and let it break down completely and then replace?

There is no service interval for the ABC system.
MB now recommend that the oil is filtered and reused rather than replacing it.

The old type oil filter for the ABC system was 10microns, the new one is 3 microns. I would replace the filter with the newer type, but I wouldn't worry about doing anything else to the system (changing oil, etc).

the CL500 was recalled for something in the ABC. I took it in and they replaced it, is this what they did or did they replace something that had nothing to do with the filter?

The recall was for a hose replacement, it has nothing to do witht the filter.

Many people don't even realise there is a filter. It is located in the ABC oil bottle. Take the cap/return line fitting off and you will see it attached to the underside of the cap.

It can be easily done yourself.

So the ABC oil never has to be changed? Do you know how much the filter is and is it worth doing or it doesnt really matter?

Personally, I would just leave the system alone.

If there is any reason to perform any work on the system then I would change the filter.
