Goodbye CL (hello S-Class Coupe)
Big news, the CL name is being dropped. I didn't see this coming.

That's the way it used to be with the E-class coupe and the S-class coupe. That must mean the new E and CLK coming out will be even more similar. The new S and CL are very similar, but at the same time very different. I think they are really dilluting the new CL550 to make it more similar to an S550, especially since it seems the 09 one doesn't even come with ABC, but all wheel drive with airmatic instead.

Now why would they do this? I acknowledge that the CL started life as an S-Class coupe (W140), but over the years the CL name began to mean something and represented uniqueness. Why change it? I don't see it affecting sales either way so what's the point? Oh well...

I think it's just to save money. From what I believe, they are gonna fully integrate the two just like the W140. The same with the E and CLK. They are already based off eachother, this is just a way to have them closer to cut costs at the factory.
