UK vs US command unit

Can you swap out the U.S version command and put in U.K version Command
unit?

Has anyone ever done it before.

i believe so. the only difference is the the UK one has an extra button for the TV. this will enable you to hook your ipod to the deck and and enable you to watch videos from your ipod and have CD quality. double check with the MB dealership, but i am 95% sure.

I know a few board members swapped their US units for Euro units from MBenzNL so I would assume the disc should work. That would be a pretty big sacrifice for the TV button if it didn't.

If memory serves me correct, the only differences were the euro model has:
  • TV button with tuner instead of a blank button.
  • Instead of words on the buttons, pictures are used.
  • There is no auto daylight savings time adjustment.
  • Supports RDS

This is really up to you.

What would I do? I'd just spend the $300 to get the CD drive fixed and call it a day. Mine get's stuck at times too. I'll be sure to PM you when mine fails. $300 beats replacing the whole unit.

I thought about adding the TV/DVD mod, but the fact that our nav screens are so small and not wide screen changed my mind. Also the TV reception will be full of static and not clear when in motion. This isn't cable or satellite TV we're talking about. Also, the tuner is not digital and analog signals will be going away soon, so DVD video would be best if you go that route.
