Major differences between 2001 CL500 and CL600
Hello,
Is there a convenient link somewhere which explains the differences between the 2 cars. Is it pretty much just the engine or is their a lot of little interior trim differences? Thank You--- John

Hello, After much searching I've found a site that listed off the differences (besides the engine of course).
"The CL600 adds Nappa leather trim including dash, console, doors, armrests, rear shelf and shift knob; complete wood trim; alcantara pillars and headliner; multi-contour vented front seats; front massage seats; integrated Motorola V60 cell phone with voice recognition; and 18-inch alloy wheels. "
The alcantara headliner is noticeable and something I've already known about. Now regarding the leather on the dash and console etc. It looks like to me that the CL500 also has leather in those areas... In many pics I see stitching all over the CL500 dash. Is the stitching and the leather on the CL500 dash faux while the CL600 is real?
Also, regarding the wood, the only differencee I see on the CL600 is wood on the ventilation apparatus for the passenger compartment. Is it that some of the pieces on the 500 are faux wood while all the pieces on the CL600 are real wood?
Thanks--- John

The leather on the dash is the same between the two. The wood on the CL600 and CL500 is real in both cases. The differences between a 01 CL500 and CL600 is as follows.
The CL600 has some extra wood (rear ashtray area and upper sunroof control area).
The CL600 has a V12.
The CL600 has nappa leather as well as extra leather (Rear parcel shelf).
The CL600 has an alcantara headliner.
The CL600 comes standard with features that are options on the CL500 (Phone, active ventilated seats).

Thanks Adam,
Does the Nappa leather feel or smell noticably different than the standard?
To rank the differences, I guess it would be:
1) Engine Engine Engine
2) Alcantara headliner
3) Nicer leather
4) a handful of extra leather and wood
5) a couple itmes standard that are options on CL500
Oh yeah, and I'm not sure if this is accurate, more sound deadening material. I've heard the v12 adds an extra 50lbs. so I'm still trying to figure out what the missing 200lb+ of difference involves.

I have nappa leather in my 2003 CL55. It is a lot softer than the normal leather. Does it smell any different ? Not really.
I have never heard anything about extra sound deadening material however. If you ever change your mind and want a 2001 CL55, I'm selling one
