"SOUND UNAVALIABLE" message

After whole winter in the garage I started my toy and my radio
is showing me "SOUND UNAVALIABLE" message.

Any ideas what it is ?

Got it once before but it went away after driving for couple of minutes.

Now I'm getting warried because it is the second time.

How was the battery after storing it? Did you have to jump it.

From my knowledge it will display this either if you have a low battery or if the device is locked (although I think that's only new COMAND). Drive the car on the highway and see if the radio starts. If not it may need to be unlocked by using a code found in the owners manual (sequence of buttons, anti-theft). This occurs when the radio loses power to prevent someone from using it after stealing it.

Thank you fatmike - during the winter I started the car couple of times just to see if my baby is alive. I did not have to jump it but it is possible that battery is lower then usual.
Will check the code or maybe in couple of days will take my star for a run.

I think it's most likely the battery, take her on the highway. good luck and report back

(not sure if 04 COMAND has the anti theft)

I think so to - now when I think about it - both times it happened it was cold outside.
maybe my battery is not holding charge like it used to do and with cold temerature
the system is not getting full power to run properly.
Maybe it's time for new battery.
