CL600 vs CL55

Hi

I am new here and just joined as I am now looking to own a MB. I am looking for a CL series and want either a CL600 or a CL55 as I can not afford a CL65.

Between the CL55 and CL600, which one is your preferences to own and why?

I also have this thread in the AMG forum as it involves both cars. I hope that was appropriate to do.

Thank you so much.

Mark

Mark, they're both fun cars and get whichever one has a longer warranty available or affords you a better extended warranty when you purchase the car (please don't buy one w/out one). I cannot stress that enough.

If this is your first "high end" Euro car, be prepared mentally if not financially. After seeing what my father went through with his cars in my childhood (visions of being stranded on the hwy next to his Aston Martin in the rain is especially etched in memory), I will never want to own a Euro car w/out being protected financially. That means if my car is ineligible for a warranty, I will no longer own it. These vehicles are not as trouble free as Japanese luxury cars and have always been over engineered to the point of complexity that begs the question "why" each time something goofy happens.

My personal preferrence, after consulting w/ a friend who had a 2003 cl600 and 2005 cl55 (among other cars he had at the time), was the cl600 b/c it has more torque (585 vs 516) but that doesn't mean one is better than the other. They're slightly different flavors of the same product. Good luck.

Regards,
HSS

I've own both 2004 CL600 & 2005 CL55AMG. Both are really nice the CL55 give you the feel it faster due the way the exhaust sounds & the V 8 belt driven supercharger. But make no mistake the CL600 V12 will out run it!! The CL55 has higher top speed of 155mph because it an AMG car. The CL600 is limited to 130mph. How many time are you ever going to hit the limit on either one of them?? The brakes are bigger on the CL55 once again due it being an AMG. The interior is much nicer in the CL600 leather & suede everywhere you touch also is has more burl walnut wood through out the car. The torque on the CL600 is amazing it pulls like a freight train but it butter smooth!!! I currently own a S600 I prefer the 600's V12. Also you can tune the ECU/TCU of the 600's and push over 640HP & 725 ft lbs torque. Then their no comparison the V12 is a clear winner!

You can't go wrong both are very nice!!
It will boil down to your personal preference.
One thing - You must get a extended warranty for either one!!!!

CL500
600 faster in a straight line, CL55 faster, and better handling, around corners. You pays your money....

I thought I wanted to go with the CL600 but I ended up with a 2006 CL55. I decided to go back to the 55 for a different driving feel. Pewter/Ash my first Benz that's not black wanted to switch it up.
