Luckily I have a warranty. My A/C Compressor went out on my CL600. How much for the part? A mere $2,600. lol retarded....

Sounds like a ripoff, unless they included labor? It goes for about $1100 new. I'm assuming they did a flush as well.

1 week prior to this My ABC/Power steering pump leaked and malfunctioned. They replaced the pump and had to remove one a/c line to do this. They recharged the system at that point. A week later the A/C would cool off and on. I thought that perhaps the freon was leaking out and they must not have tighten something. The freon registered 100% full. The pressure was off and the plate in the compressor was either sticking, stuck or broken. I guess the total bill was around $2600. Everything over 1000 the warranty company sends an adjuster out to verify the repairs. They came out yesterday and had no issues with the quote or repairs needed. You should see the entire list of everything I have had replaced in the past 2 1/2 years. Its truly amazing. At first I was so frustrated and angry. Now I seriously just laugh. Its ridiculous...lol

Take a car to a regular A/C repair shop, and if the compressor is bad, they replace the compressor (~$400 reman), flush the system (~$100), and maybe replace the receiver-drier (~$30) and expansion valve (~$40). This is because a seized compressor can release gritty metal particles that can eventually find their way back into the new compressor given enough time. All of this plus labor.

Take a car to the dealership for an a/c compressor replacement, and they want to replace EVERYTHING in the A/C system. This is because they are afraid of those compressor chunks that may be floating around the system. Otherwise they will not warranty the work. That is the dealership way.

With the warranty I would just go ahead and continue to take it to the dealer---it is already paid for so why not? I haven't got the warranty, so I will go to a local mechanic for problems like that, but for the weird problems (once had a window that would always go down as soon as you rolled it up) I take it to MB. I also get my A and B service at MB, just so they can tell me what THEY think are the current issues. It has worked out well for three years now, and overall I would have lost money had I purchased a warranty.

Are those real Brabus wheels Austinite? I have the same set.
