Phone system
My Dad purchased a 2001 CL600 and has been trying to update from the Timeport phone in his armrest, which cannot be activated through any carrier because it is not 911 capable. He purchased a smartphone with bluetooth and an adapter that is supposed to plug in where his timeport unit is, to turn it into bluetooth. After buying and exchanging two different bluetooth units and cords, none fit. Does anyone have the same vehicle that has switched to bluetooth? The Mercedes dealership guy told him they would have to pull his entire navigation unit for about 1500 dollars, but this just doesn't sound like the only option to me. Any suggestions on the proper product would be appreciated.

I don't think it works on the 2001 CL. The Timeport system is not V60 based system...I had to go with the Mikbox - which is not ideal, but better than nothing..
I suggest you read: BenzWold.org - "How to Guide for Cell Phone upgrades" Excellent explanations ... what to do, what parts to get, etc.

It's the phone, it's been set up like that from Apple , there is nothing you can do about it(imo). You could try it with a different kind phone see if it connects. If it does, then it's not the car , it's the Iphone.

This might sound a bit weird but any chance you could send a photo of the original cradle I have a CL600 German import with a strange cradle and a socket which I'm trying to upgrade/use without spending a stack of cash.
Thanks

sorry guys just got back to the forum, i have/had a iPhone 3G and worked just fine, now using a Nexus One and working just fine as well.
The car originaly did not have a BT. I purchased a V60 BT puck and a replacement module to support phone functionality (goes in the trunk) and that was it. Works like a charm, all Stock MB parts.

Celllguy85 on ebay is the one to contact for conversion kits. Keith is a great guy will be happy to consult with you by phone. He formerly was a cell phone installer for Mercedes and can usually supply whatever parts you need to convert the cradle system to support a currently supported phone. He also sells compatible phones for your MB that already have the proprietary MB software installed. His pricing is much less than going through the authorized MB phone systems provider.
