Aftermarket double din
Has anyone tried an aftermarket double din for the CL?
It's my wives car and water got into trunk frying the amp and I've since pulled out everything and it seems that everyone wants an arm and a leg to repair. I was wondering if anyone put an aftermarket double din with speakers and amp?

You'll want a 2 ohm amp to match the factory speakers. You can probably reuse the wiring and just swap the amp and HU. You'll need to modify the wood console. You'll want to look for fiber loop adapters because when you remove the amp and HU, you'll be breaking the fiber ring that the PSE and other parts in the trunk use to communicate. You could also find a used amp.

There's a guy on here selling a kit for the later '03+ models, that have the one piece COMAND. Agree, you'd have to build a cage to mount to the 4 stock bolts and then hold the Double DIN radio.
You might still be able to use the kit if you cut the wood or get a piece of the newer style wood (try eBay).
